First
Impressions on the Internet
First impressions
are very important in today's world.
Such initial thoughts can determine
whether we like someone from the start,
whether or not we want to purchase
a particular car, whether or not we
like the house a realtor is showing
us, and whether or not we get a particular
job. It is also true that first impressions
mean a lot when people look at web
sites. |

Building
Brand into Structure
Walk into any K-Mart.
Then walk into any Target. You'll
see similar merchandise, similar target
audiences, even similar prices. The
difference between the stores is brand. |

Information
Design-What is it and who needs it?
It's been called
"information anxiety", and
who doesn't suffer from it? We're
constantly bombarded by messages,

us listen, to make us react. Some

important than others. |

terms what distinguished information
design from other types of design
and I found myself struggling to provide
a clear and concise answer. |

Information
design on the web: the screen is just
bad paper
Certain
design tasks have been called "wicked
design problems". Be they forms
(elections, social security), time
tables, maps, signage systems, catalogues
or complex web sites, the approach
to solving them is best described
by Marshal McLuhan's dictum: "any
situation you go into deeply enough
reverses". |
